Loser wins
Bennett Arron and Daniel Foxx have won awards at the Edinburgh Comedy Poster Awards.
Arron won the panel prize for the artwork for his show Loser, right, which he designed and photographed himself.
The other shortlisted entrants were Michael Welch: Ethnic Reveal Party; Ruth Hunter: The Ruth is on Fire; Troll; Liz Toonkel: Magic for Animals; Harriet Dyer: Mother; Che Burnley: Hate Pt. 1; Julia Masli: ha ha ha ha ha ha ha; The Lost Play Of Barry Wayworm; and Vittorio Angelone: Who Do You Think You Are? I Am!.
Meanwhile, the public-voted audience award went to Foxx’s devilishly-inspired Villain, designed and photographed by Jiksaw.
The rest of the top ten was: Samantha Day: The Booby Trap; Lindsey Santoro: Pink Tinge; Kirsty Mann: Skeletons; BeComedyUK: No Limits; Harriet Dyer: Mother; Wage Against The Machine; Bennett Arron: Loser; Dusk: A Bite-Size Love Story; and The Prince Andrew Tate Appreciation Hour.
Each of the two winners will receive a package of free poster placements on Edinburgh’s streets for their 2024 shows, courtesy of the city council’s advertising partner, Out of Hand.
Comedy producer Gina Lyons, founder of the awards, said: ‘I love posters. I love comedy. And once again I'm proud of the Comedy Poster Awards for celebrating the eye porn that promotes art each Fringe!’
