Delving into guests' first memories

Gyles Brandreth is to launch a new interview podcast  called Rosebud.

Guests for the first series will include Miriam Margolyes, Dame Judi Dench, Nicola Sturgeon, Alison Hammond and Richard Dawkins.

It will launch on September 1 – St Giles’s Day – with the broadcaster asking guests to share their first memories and experiences.

Notable moments from the series include:

  • Miriam Margolyes talking about her dislike of John Cleese and her contemporaries in the Cambridge Footlights.
  • Richard Dawkins and Gyles speaking about sexual abuse at boarding schools in the 50s.
  • Dame Judi Dench talking about her first love.
  • AJ Odudu revealing that she was the victim of racist attacks when she was a child.
  • Ken Bruce talking about the corporal punishment he received at school in Glasgow.
  • Sir Ben Okri speaking about his experiences sleeping rough in London.
  • Philosopher Professor Kathleen Stock talking about being bullied at school in Scotland.

Other guests include former MP Rory Stewart, Bridgerton actor Adjoa Andoh, poet and novelists Sir Ben Okri and theatrical dame Maureen Lipman.

• •Jon Richardson and Matt Forde’s Comedians Playing Fantasy Premier League podcast has been rebranded as Down The Dog, as the comics ditch the managerial simulation for a more general sports comedy podcast, recorded at Richardson’s home pub, The Dog & Bastard. Two episodes have already gone out under the new name.
