Reuben Kaye announces Southbank residency

Australian comedy-cabaret star has three weeks at the Purcell Room

Australian comedy-cabaret star Reuben Kaye has announced a residency at London’s Southbank Centre this Christmas.

The performer will be at the prestigious venue for three weeks in December with his show The Butch Is Back, which will also be at the Edinburgh Fringe next month.

And this autumn he embarks on a European tour with his band The Close Contacts.

Earlier this year Kaye went viral when a joke about Jesus that he made on TV while defending drag queen story times angered some right-wing religious groups.

In The Butch Is Back, Reuben explores the relationship between fathers and sons through his connection to his own father as a queer, creative child  – and will also feature his four piece band.

It runs at the Purcell Room on the South Bank from December 8.
