US comic Pat Cooper dies at 93
American comedian Pat Cooper has died aged 93.
The appeared alongside Robert De Niro in the 1999 film Analyze This, playing the mobster Salvatore Masiello, as well as its sequel Analyze That, and was known for his appearances on The Howard Stern Show.
Confirming the news of Cooper’s death, his producer Steve Garrin told Fox News Digital: 'There was nobody like Pat Cooper, who burned every bridge that he went over.
'I put out a lot of the fires. He was one man who was honest. You could depend on him. You could trust him. 'If he gave you his word and said he was going to do something, he did it. And he helped so many people.’
On stage he was known for his short temper and angry outbursts, earning him the nickname ‘the comedian of outrage’.
But off-stage he became estranged from his family, including his two children from his first of three marriages. ‘I don’t love them; I don’t care about them,’ he said in a 2010 New York Times interview.
An Italian-American, he also spoke about performing at the weddings and christenings of Mafia families during his career which began in the nightclubs of the 1950s, before making his TV debut in the early 1960s:
Cooper played himself in an episode of Seinfeld based around New York’s Friar’s Club for comedians.
In 2005, he released a DVD called You're Always Yelling and in 2010, he released his autobiography called How Dare You Say How Dare Me!
