£1,000 grant for funny female filmmakers

New bursary in memory of Phoebe Frances Brown

A new £1,000 grant has been created to help an up-and-coming female filmmaker turn a comedy idea into reality.

The fund has been named in honour of Phoebe Frances Brown, a writer and performer who lost her battle with brain cancer last year, aged just 29.

It has been established on the anniversary of her death  by film-makers’ collective Mister Tibbs, who say: ‘She brought immense wit and warmth to all her work on stage and screen’. That work included an acclaimed one-woman play about her condition, The Glad Game.

Applicants must provide a written statement about their planned project and career goals and and an example of their work.

Apply here by June 16, and the winner will be announced in August.
