La Clique heads to Manchester

Burlesque cabaret's first Northern residency

Burlesque cabaret institution La Clique is heading to Manchester for its very first residency  in the North of England.

The Olivier Award-winning circus and variety showcase will be pitching up its 1920s wooden Spiegeltent in a rooftop venue for a six-week run from next month.

David Bates, the show’s creative director, said: ‘La Clique has been described as: "over the head, under the skin and below the belt". It is the original circus cabaret that has taken the world by storm from Paris to New York.

'It’s sexy, it’s funny, it’s dangerous... Manchester, strap yourself in, it’s your turn now to feel the thrill and we couldn’t be more excited.'

In Manchester, the bill will include e tension strap artist LJ Marles, singer Chastity Belt, aerial contortionist Miranda Menzies and comedy and stunt performer Sam Goodburn, among others.

Produced by Underbelly, the show will run on the rooftop of Depot Mayfield, a major venue recently opened on the site of a former railway station, from May 25. Tickets are available from www.lacliquetheshow.com.
