James Acaster joins Latitude
James Acaster has joined the line-up of this year’s Latitude festival.
However, he won’t be performing stand-up, but discussing his music project Temps and their debut album Party Gator Purgator with Charlatans frontman Tim Burgess.
The comic said: ‘After years of me listening to Tim’s music I’m jazzed about swapping roles and seeing what he makes of Temps.’
Temps is a 40-strong international collective,. fronted by a cartoon alligator, that Acaster put together during lockdown when he got back in contact with musicians he had interviewed for his book and podcast Perfect Sound Whatever
He said: ‘I became completely obsessed with this project. it was all I focused on for two years and we ended up making my favourite thing ever. I hope people enjoy it.’
He will unveil the album at one of Burgess’s Listening Parties – the rock star’s own lockdown project in which he invited artists and bands to host real-time album playbacks via Twitter.
Burgess turned the project into a live event at the 2021 Latitude Festival and it soon to become an Absolute Radio show too.
He said: ‘We did the first ever Listening Party Live at Latitude so it’s brilliant to be heading back there - Party Gator Purgatory is a mind blowing project and I can’t wait to share the stage with James Acaster to find all out about it’

Latitude returns to Henham Park, Suffolk, from July 20 to 23. Acaster’s Off Menu podcast co-host Ed Gamble is one of the comedy headliners alongside Bridget Christie, Sara Pascoe and Romesh Ranganathan.
