All about the 'ludicrous news stories' from Northern England

Comics Ian Smith and Amy Gledhill have joined forces to create a new comedy podcast, Northern News.

The pair – both two Northerners living in London – each week, they scour the local newspapers of the North to find the stories they might be missing from home.

Each episode features a special guest correspondent who shares a Northern-based story of their own. Guests on the inaugural series include Maisie Adam, Isy Suttie, Tim Key, Phil Wang, Rosie Jones and Nick Helm.

Smith said: ‘The North is a bottomless well of completely ludicrous news stories and I consider it a national service to bring them to you.’

Amy Gledhill said: ‘Dip your Yorkshires in some gravy and get this podcast on!’

Northern News launches this Thursday  on all the main podcast platforms. It is made  by Plosive – the team behind Off Menu with Ed Gamble and James Acaster and Cuddle Club with Lou Sanders, among others
