Free bus travel for Glasgow comedy fans
Stand-up fans can get free bus travel to shows at this year’s Glasgow International Comedy Festival, thanks to new sponsorship deal.
Ticket-holders will be sent a code they can use in the First Bus app, giving them a free day ticket valid for use during the 19-day festival, which kicks off on March 15.
Graeme Macfarlan, commercial director at First Bus Scotland, said: ‘We’re proud to be playing our role in helping to make our city’s celebrated comedy festival more affordable and accessible for everyone.
‘Our partnership with the festival will allow us to reach a wider audience to further encourage people to choose public transport as their preferred method of travel. We look forward to welcoming comedy fans on board our buses.’
Festival director Krista MacDonald added that the arrangement meant 'fans can travel to and from the venue with ease while also doing their bit to reduce their environmental impact'.
The partnership was launched by comic Scott Agnew hosting a festival podcast, from a bus with guests Two Doors Down’s Kieran Hodgson, pictured, stand-ups Raymond Mearns, Leah MacRae and Elaine Malcolmson, and sketch group Weegie Hink Ae That?!
Comics performing as part of the 400-plus shows in this year’s line-up include Phil Wang, Jason Byrne, Nick Mohammed, Ardal O’Hanlon and Fern Brady.
