Matt Richardson joins Jack FM

Comic becomes Oxford station's breakfast host

Comedian Matt Richardson is joining Oxfordshire radio station Jack FM as its new breakfast host.

The stand-up – who has previously hosted ITV2’s The Xtra Factor and Virgin Radio’s drivetime show, will take over the 7am to 10am slot from March 13.

It is a return to home turf for Richardson, who was born in the country and moved back there last year after nearly a decade in London.

He said: 'I was born in Didcot and went to uni at Oxford… Brookes, but it’s still Oxford! Aand when you come from Didcot, the grass is always greener.

‘But seriously, I know how the people of Oxfordshire tick because I am one of them - and I can’t wait to wake them up every morning.’

Richardson will continue to run his Laughing Ox stand-up nights in venues across Oxfordshire alongside his new on-air job.

Steve Simms, Jack FM’s programme controller, said: ‘I’m delighted that Matt’s here to champion all things local and join our amazing team of big names and local heroes, of which he is both.’
