The Stand announces its first 2023 Edinburgh Fringe shows

And a better deal for comics

The Stand comedy club has announced its first shows for the 2023 Edinburgh Fringe, including Danny Bhoy (pictured), JJ Whitehead and Jo Caulfield.

The venue will also be back with  Stand 3 and 4, which were not in operation last year, as well as at the New Town Theatre.

Other comics on their 2023 slate include Shetlander Marjolein Robertson, who graduates from the 40-seater Stand 2 room to the main 140-capacity Stand 1.

Last year, Robin Grainger made headlines for playing to just one person at Stand 2, and this year returns with a show all about it: An Audient with Robin Grainger.

The Stand has also made it more affordable for acts to play there this year. Managing director Mike Jones said: ‘We’ve decided to drop venue hire costs for acts to make it more affordable to come to the Fringe – and we have not increased our ticket prices.’

The first batch of shows now on sale from thestand.co.uk  also include Gareth Waugh, Gavin Webster; Vladimir McTavish, Billy Kirkwood, the improv show Spontaneous Potter, James Nokise and Ada Campe.

Fresh from conquering the big C is Bee Babylon who makes her Fringe debut with  Cancer Culture, while Austrian-American-Slovenian comedian Philip Kostelecky  presents Daddy’s Home.
