Bruno Tonioli joins Britain's Got Talent panel
Bruno Tonioli has been confirmed as the new judge as filming starts on the next series of Britain's Got Talent.
It scotches rumours that Alan Carr had been due to take his place on the panel alongside Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden and Alesha Dixon.
ITV bosses had reportedly wanted the comic – a close friend of Holden's – to join the show, but were overruled by Cowell, who plumped for the former Strictly Come Dancing judge.
Tonioli replaces David Walliams, who left the ITV show last year after recordings emerged of him making crude sexual remarks about two contestants during auditions in January 2020.
Speaking to the audience at the auditions at the London Palladium, Bruno said: 'I am so thrilled to be working alongside my old friend Simon. He’s teased me about this for years and years and years and now I am so excited to be here. And very nervous!'
One member of the studio audience tweeted this footage of him arriving:
