John Tothill crowned 2Northdown new act champ
John Tothill won the 2Northdown new comedian of the year title last night –beating fellow finalists that also included his brother George.
John, a former Footlighter at Cambridge University, spoke about his experiences a teacher in his set at the London venue.
Second place went to ‘failed musician’ Adam Flood, who has already been signed up by comedy agency PBJ having previously made the final of the NATYs and been crowned Bath Comedy Festival mew Act of the Year.
Third place went to Kyrah Gray, who has been signed to the Off The Kerb Agency, and will be taking part in Mo Gilligan’s Black British Takeover at The O2 next month, having previously supported White Yardie on tour.
The other finalists were Aisha Amanduri, Dane Buckley, Elaine Fellows, Jasmine Morton, John Tothill, Rohan Sharma, Sam Williams, Shalaka Kurup and Will Owen.
Previous winners of the 2Northdown competition have been Leo Reich, who went on to support Simon Amstell on his UK tour, Katie Pritchard, who also won the Musical Comedy Award, and Dee Allum, who returned to host last night’s final.
