Sir Michael Palin joins Bristol’s Slapstick Festival
Sir Michael Palin will be joined by Rob Brydon and Stephen Merchant for two special events to close Bristol’s Slapstick Festival next year.
First, he will be joined by Merchant to introduce a screening of Monty Python’s Life Of Brian, then he will be joined by Brydon for a talk looking back at his long career as a comedy writer.
The events take place at the Bristol Old Vic on February 19, the last day of the week-long Slapstick festival of silent and classic screen comedy, and three months before Sir Michael’s 80th birthday.
The festival is moving from its traditional late January spot to February 14 to 19. Much of the programme has yet to be announced, but the final day’s events at Old Vic go on sale next Thursday.
They also include
- Actor, author and broadcaster Stephen Mangan sharing his love of Laurel & Hardy
- A screening of the Beatles’ film A Hard Day’s with an intro from Mike McCartney, younger brother of Sir Paul and a former member of another chart-topping Liverpool band: The Scaffold
- A one-woman show paying tribute to the wit and wisdom of Joyce Grenfell
- Two live podcast recordings hosted by Robin Ince and Chris Grimes
