Trevor Noah set his Daily Show departure date
Trevor Noah will be leaving The Daily Show on December 8, Comedy Central has announced.
The comic announced his departure two weeks ago, saying he wanted to return to stand-up – and now his last day has been confirmed.
He will stand down after the show decamps to Atlanta to cover the midterm elections. It will then return on Tuesday January 17 with a new host, who has yet to be named.
Chris McCarthy, president of Comedy Central parent company Paramount Media Networks, said: ‘"Trevor is an incredible talent who has left an indelible mark on The Daily Show and we’re grateful for his creative partnership over the past seven years.’
And Noah returned the compliment, saying: ‘Chris has been an amazing leader and partner who has helped me realise my dream of working not just in front of the camera, but also behind the scenes, producing content which now airs across the Paramount family. I’m truly excited to see what the future holds.’
The Daily Show airs on Comedy Central in the UK, too – but because of the time difference, it airs at around 3.30am. Episodes are also available on catch-up and via streaming service Now TV.
