Golden Girls star had suffered a stroke

Betty White died following a stroke, her death certificate has revealed.

The Golden Girls star suffered the episode six days before she died on December 31 at age 99.

Celebrity website TMZ has obtained the certificate whcih showed her cause of death was a ‘cerebrovascular accident,’ caused by blot clots and broken blood vessels that result in loss of blood flow to part of the brain.

The website also reported that  White had been ‘alert and coherent’ following the stroke.

Meanwhile, coroners are to launch a more detailed investigation into US comedian Bob Saget’s death at the age of 65 in his Florida hotel room this weekend.

After an initial autopsy yesterday, the Orange County chief medical examiner Joshua Stephany told CNN: ‘At this time, there is no evidence of drug use or foul play. The cause and manner of death are pending further studies and investigation which may take up to 10 to 12 weeks to complete.’
