Charlie Hyland moves from production roles

Channel 4 has appointed Charlie Hyland as a digital commissioner focussing  on comedy.

Hyland was most recently series producer on E4’s Pete and Sam’s Reality News and Married A First Sight spin-off Afters, and when he joins Channel 4 next month he will have a remit to commission and deliver a slate of comedy and entertainment content across  all social platforms.

Hyland’s other production credits include: The Last Leg, The Lateish Show with Mo Gilligan Home Alone with Joel Dommett, The Big Narstie Show and Comedy Games Night.

His new boss, Channel 4’s head of digital commissioning Sacha Khari, said: ‘Charlie’s awareness of new comedic talent and his vision to drive them forward through amazing formats will be invaluable as we continue to elevate our digital comedy offering.

‘He’s editorially brilliant and we’re all absolutely elated to bring, his expertise, ambition and humour to the team."

Hyland’ said: ‘I'm delighted to be joining the Channel 4 family at such an exciting time in its history and I can't wait to continue its legacy in making comedy that not only pushes boundaries, but champions unheard voices and stories.

‘As someone who only really wanted to work in TV after watching Channel 4 comedies, joining Sacha's new digital department and being given the chance to bring C4's distinctive comic taste to a new generation is a privilege and an honour.’
