Union Jack Radio boosts its comedy offering
Digital radio station Union Jack is to air stand-up clips thanks to a new tie-up with streaming service NextUp Comedy.
The broadcaster will feature old footage recorded at the now-defunct Jongleurs chain of comedy clubs as well as contemporary content taped for NextUp’s video-on-demand subscription service.
Material will air in Union Jack’s drive-time slot, now dubbed Driving Comedy, which will run on weekdays from 4pm to 7pm starting next Mondy, and will mix music with comedy, occasionally linked with voiceover.
The Jongleurs clips will feature the likes of Andy Parsons, Omid Djalili and Ed Byrne, with Maisie Adam, Scott Bennett, Daliso Chaponda (pictured), Laura Lexx and Kiri Pritchard-McLean among the newer generation of acts.
Union Jack programme manager Giles Gear said: ‘We are absolutely committed to bringing the very best British comedy to our listeners and this new show does not disappoint.’
