Taskmaster gets more Nordic exposure

New homegrown series across Scandinavia

Nordic remakes of Taskmaster are proving a hit across Scandinavia.

A second series has been announced in Norway for the Discovery channel, a fifth series has been ordered in Sweden for SVT, a fourth in Denmark for TV2, and a second series in Finland for MTV3.

And the Norwegian version, Kongen Befaler, was recently named best entertainment show at the country’s Golden Screen Awards.

Magnus Vatn, programme director at Discovery Networks said: ‘Kongen befaler reaches a very wide audience and has become a programme people watch together. With an average of over 500,000 viewers per episode, it was easy to decide to make another season"

The news comes as the British original prepares to launch  on The CW in America on August 2 - following a short-lived US remake featuring Reggie Watts in the Greg Davies Taskmaster role and series creator Alex Horne as his sidekick.

The original Taskmaster programme and format combined has been sold to 106 countries, with 140 episodes being made outside the UK.
