Comics' art raises £3k for mental health charity

Work by Harry Hill, Lolly Adefope and Jack Whitehall sold

A week-long exhibition of art by comedians  has raised £3,285 for Mental Health UK

Artists who sold their works included Harry Hill, Lolly Adefope, Jack Whitehall, Katy Wix, Jenny Eclair and Joe Lycett.

Seventy per cent of the pieces, which were priced between £50 and £600, were sold in the first two days of the Art Is The Best Medicine.

But sadly Rob Auton’s portrait of Chris Tarrant, entitled I Want To Be A Millionaire did not reach its £1,000,000 price tag.

A third of the proceeds from each sale went to the charity.

Comedian and artist Annie McGrath  – pictured above with Jessica Hynes at the exhibition –  curated the event at London gallery Fiumano Clase, which closed on Friday.

She said: ‘I have been quite overwhelmed by the talent involved as well as how openly the artists have spoken to me about mental health issues they have overcome.’
