At Montreal's Just For Laughs Festival

Comedians and writers from around the world are being invited to pitch TV or web series at Montreal’s Just For Laughs festival.

Five finalists in each of there categories will get the chance to sell their concepts to a panel of seasoned development and production executives, in a room full of comedy industry figures at the annual event.

Several series got their start during previous Stand Up & Pitch, including Fox’sThat’s My Bus and My 90-Year-Old Roommate and Newborn Moms  for Canada’s CBC.

The categories are:

From Set to Screen:  Single or multi-camera scripted sitcoms, game shows, reality shows, variety, sketch or animation series. These pitches are intended for television programmes running 30 minutes, Presented by Project 10 Productions, panellists have included executives from companies including Amazon, Comedy Central, Fox and HBO.

Beyond the Box: Playing It Short. Digital-first shows aimed for YouTube or other digital platforms, including scripted, animation, factual, variety and sketch. These pitches are intended for shows running 15 minutes or less. Presented by Tubefilter, previous panellists for this programme have included executives from Adult Swim, Funny or Die, YouTube, and more.

CBC Comedy Original: Open to Canadian citizens or permanent residents only, and drawn from applicants to the aloe two strands.

Sessions will take place during the Just For Laughs ComedyPRO strand, which runs  from July 24 to 28. The deadline to submit projects is May 6. For full details visit www.comedypro.hahaha.com/submissions.
