Aussie comic wins Beat The Frog contest
Australian comic Anna Spark has won the annual new act competition run by Manchester’s Frog And Bucket comedy club.
Her material –described as ‘audaciously funny and close-to-the-bone’ – last night won her the ‘world series’ that’s the culmination of the venue’s Beat The Frog gong-show style new act nights.
She wins £250 and paid work at the venue.
The panel prize went to the softly-spoken Michael Mannion with half-Venezuelan James Heath being awarded the runners-up slot.
Other finalists were Sian Davies, Mamoun Elagab, Ben Silver, Louise Young, Romanian stand-up Victor Patrascan and Chloe Levi Joyce – who works behind the bar at the venue.
