Comic lands gig in front of 1,000 TV execs

Hari Kondabolu is to host the International Emmys, it has been announced today.

Bruce Paisner, president of the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences which hands out the awards, said: ‘Kondabolu is an outspoken comic who has that magical quality of making very serious topics extremely funny. We look forward to having him headlining our awards’

The comic , known for his documentary on The Simpsons, The Problem with Apu,a added: ‘It's an absolute honour to host the International Emmy Awards.

‘When I told my mother, she had a huge smile on her face. It's like I told her I was quitting comedy and going to law school.’

The ceremony, which attracts more than 1,000 international media and entertainment executives,  takes place on Monday, November 19 in New York.
