Leicester Comedy Festival gets a new manager
The charity behind the Leicester Comedy Festival has appointed a new general manager.
Helen Tomblin founded Birmingham comedy club The Laughing Sole, which hit the national press when it launched a decade ago because of its commitment to offering only clean comedy.
In her new role with the Big Difference Company, Tomblin will support festival founder Geoff Rowe in developing the event and the year-round community programme. She has previously worked for a housing association, children’s charities and as a youth adviser for The Church of England.
Tomblin said: ‘I’m so excited to accept this role with Big Difference Company. The charity's values of encouraging greater well-being and promoting comedy and the arts by empowering children, young people and other community groups, are so aligned with my own that this feels like the perfect fit.
‘I am passionate about comedy and humour and how it can enable greater communication, build life skills and better relationships and I cannot wait to get going.’
The next Leicester Comedy Festival will take place from February 6 to 24 next year.
