Christmas special for forces' radio comedy

Forces radio BFBS is to record a  Christmas special of its military-themed comedy sketch show, Damn the Torpedoes.

Ninety minutes of material will be taped in London next week, edited down to a half-hour show for broadcast at Christmas.

Sketches will include David Attenborough narrating an episode of Blue Planet 2 on board HMS Queen Elizabeth, the navy’s newest aircraft carrier; the Boris Johnson Enigma machine to be deciphered; and front-line jet pilots doing ‘take your kids to work day’.

The cast includes Dead Ringers star Lewis Macleod, EastEnders actor  Debbie Arnold, Alex Perkins  and Steve Hope Wynne.

Executive producer Richard Hatch, said the show was written ’with input from the British military community, so we’ve involved our core audience in the creative process from the very beginning.’

Free tickets for next Tuesday’s recording, at the RADA studios in Central London are available here.

The programmes will be broadcast on Forces Radio BFBS on Saturday December  at 1.30pm, Christmas Eve at 4.30pm and Boxing Day at 3.30pm.  You can tune in here.
