Birmingham festival announces line-up

The Birmingham Comedy Festival has announced its 2017 line-up.

The 16th annual event, which runs from October 6 to 15, includes two dates of Greg Davies’s new tour, You Magnificent Beast, an appearance by  Matt Lucas tied in with the release of his memoir, Little Me, and local star Joe Lycett.

Other highlights among the 80 shows include Henning Wehn, Robin Ince and Simon Day, who last appeared in the festival in 2002 as part of The Fast Show cast.

It also features films thanks to  Australian short film festival Over The Fence – which includes a screening of Not Sophie’s Choice starring Catherine Tats –  and an afternoon of Laurel and Hardy classics.

The festival officially kicks off with the fourth Birmingham Comedy Festival Breaking Talent Award, held at the Glee club
