Speaking on the role of humour in society

Lenny Henry and Ian Hislop are to appear at this year's Sheffield Doc/Fest, it has been announced.

Have I Got New For You TV captain Ian Hislop, talking with The Revolution Will Be Televised’s Jolyon Rubinstein about the role satire plays in exposing the truth.

And Henry will be in conversation with June Sarpong, talking about campaigning for change through humour and his passion for blues music.

Other guests at the event, which runs from June 9 to 14, include Louis Theroux, hosting an event marking 50 years of the decriminalisation of homosexuality, and the world premiere of the film Jo Cox: Death of an MP.

Festival director Liz McIntyre said: ‘We’re thrilled to be bringing the most extraordinary and inspiring stories, born out of this time of seismic change…  Storytellers are converging on Sheffield to show their work both maverick and influential, funny and quirky, heart stopping and heart breaking.’
