Rob Carter's The Raisin to debut in LA

A short comedy drama written and directed by comedian Rob Carter is to have its world premiere at the LA Comedy Festival on Friday.

The Raisin is described as ‘a rural romance centred around the story of one raisin and looks at the effect loneliness can have on a person when they are finally met with the opportunity for companionship’.

Carter said: ‘The inspiration for this film came when I was on crutches, 3 months after a road accident, hobbling into my living room with my dinner spilling in a plastic bag swinging from each crutch, and I’m delighted to see that it’s now being enjoyed by people outside my living room as well.’

The film has also been selected into a short film section of the Cannes Film Festival.

Sara Shulman, who produced the short film with Tom Holloway, said: ‘The Raisin is a beautiful film and we are so pleased that it has entertained and received support from the international film festival community.’
