Kevin Hart to star in Great Outdoors remake
Kevin Hart is set to star in a remake of John Hughes’ 1988 comedy movie The Great Outdoors.
The original starred John Candy as a man trying to enjoy a camping holiday with his family until his brother-in-law, played by Dan Aykroyd, turned up and ruined the trip.
Randall Green, who is also scripting the upcoming reboot of the Scooby-Doo franchise, has rewritten Hughes’s original, but no director is yet attached, according to Hollywood website Deadline.
The 1988 film earned a mixed response from critics, with a modest score of 40 per cent on review aggregate site Rotten Tomatoes. But it grossed $43million worldwide.
Hart’s recent hit films include Ride Along 2 and Central Intelligence, while his third stand-up comedy special, Kevin Hart: What Now?, took in $23 million when it aired in American cinemas.
He will also appear alongside Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson later this year in the new Jumanji film.
