2.3m see Hospital People
Tom Binns’ new sitcom Hospital People was seen by 2.3miillion viewers on Friday night.
The comedy fell short of the 3.5million average that the 9.30pm slot normally achieves, despite inheriting and audience of 4.4million from Have I Got News For You.
In the series, Binns plays several characters, including his best-known creation, inept hospital radio DJ Ivan Brackenbury as well as callous NHS manager, Susan Mitchell, porter and spirit medium Ian D Montfort and over-enthusiastic chaplain Father Kenny Mercer.
However, Hospital People performed better than ITV’s ailing Nightly Show, which ended its run with 1million viewers watching Dermot O’Leary interview John Cleese at 10pm.
And Channel 4’s The Last Leg, featuring Alan Carr as a guest, attracted 1.7million – according to Barb data from overnights.tv.
