Gone in 20 minutes
Hannah Gadsby sold out a 1,000 seat venue in just 20 minutes this morning, on the back of winning the Barry Award at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.
The comedian added the extra date at the city’s Comedy Theatre next Saturday despite having just performed her show Nanette 23 times as part of the festival.
Now she has added a 5pm matinee as well.
Producers Token say: ‘This is Melbourne’s last chance to see the show which has had the whole festival talking.’
Gadsby has said she is quitting stand-up once she has toured this show, which plays the Edinburgh Fringe this August, and plans a return to her native Tasmania.
When she collected her award on Saturday night, Gadsby spoke out against transphobic comments made by Barry Humphries, after whom the accolade is named.
