HBO to air Brett Goldstein's first stand-up special
The Second Best Night Of Your Life coming in April
Brett Goldstein has recorded his first special, which will air on America’s HBO next month.
The star and writer of Ted Lasso recorded his stand-up show The Second Best Night Of Your Life in New Jersey last month.
It previously toured the US and Canada last autumn and will be performed at the Netflix Is A Joke festival in Los Angeles in May.
Goldstein, said: ‘I’m so excited to do my first special, not on TV but on HBfuckkingO!’
‘It's not TV. It's HBO’ was the tagline of the premium cable service from 1996 to 2009.
Nina Rosenstein from the broadcaster said: ‘We all know Brett as an incredibly gifted writer and actor, but his roots are in stand-up. He has a razor-sharp, dark sense of humour and is the perfect combination of British gentleman and cheeky troublemaker. We are so, so happy to work with him on his first special.’
Goldstein will next star as the lead opposite Imogen Poots in the Apple TV+ film All Of You, which he also produced and co-wrote. He is now in production on his leading role opposite Jennifer Lopez in the irreverent romantic comedy, Office Romance which he also produced and co-wrote with Joe Kelly.
He has also just wrapped production on the latest drama from acclaimed Hungarian filmmaker Kornél Mundruczó, At the Sea.
Goldstein is the creator of the Apple TV+ comedy Shrinking alongside Jason Segel and Bill Lawrence, which has recently been renewed for a third season., and hosts the podcast Films To Be Buried With.
No UK broadcast has been announced for The Second Best Night Of Your Life, but Sky has a content deal with HBO.
