Underbelly has announced its first batch of shows for this year’s Edinburgh Fringe.

They include full return run for Garry Starr’s Classic Penguins – one of the hits of last year’s festival for rival venue Pleasance – and a two-week run of Geoff Norcott’s new tour show Basic Bloke 2.

Ali Woods will be performing his new hour Basher; Marc Burrows will be presenting a multi-media stand up celebration of Britpop; and Cerys Bradley will unveil their choose-your-own storytelling show Queer Tales For Autistic Folk

The Brown Girls Do It Too podcast duo of Rubina Pabani and Poppy Jay will be making their Fringe debut with their live show Mama Told Me Not To Come, before a previously announced run at Soho Theatre’s new Walthamstow venue in September.

Also debuting is Australian comic Jessica Barton as Mary Floppins, teaching the audience how to ‘run a prim and proper household’.

The venue also confirmed the return of compilation show Edinburgh Comedy Allstars,  comedy play …Earnest?, and Fringe stalwarts CSI: Crime Scene Improvisation and Sh!t-faced Shakespeare, who will be performing their take on A Midsummer Night's Dream.

Underbelly is one of several venues that puts shows on sale ahead of the opening of the official Edinburgh Fringe Box office on March 12, with extra drops of shows on April 2 and May 7.
