Roy Wood Jr takes the chair in presidential election week

The host of the American version of Have I Got News For You is to host the BBC original.

Roy Wood Jr will guest host the British version on November 8, just a few date after the American presidential election.

The comedian said: ‘Thank you to the HIGNFY team for giving me gainful employment as a TV presenter in England, a country that I hear has no issues whatsoever with immigration! To seek asylum in England, one must have left their country of origin due to a well-founded fear of persecution.

‘Depending on which way the Presidential election goes in America, I might be hanging around England for a while.’

The British version of HIGNFY is recorded on a Thursday night for broadcast on Friday, while the American version is taped on Friday to air on news network CNN on Saturday.  It also airs on BBC Two and iPlayer on Tuesdays.

Joining Wood Jr on episode 6 of the 68th series will be Richard Osman and Roisin Conaty.
