Series 2 for Mr Bigstuff

Sky renews Danny Dyer and Ryan Sampson comedy

Sky has ordered a second series of Danny Dyer and Ryan Sampson comedy Mr Bigstuff.

The broadcaster says the show is the highest-rating new original comedy in the three years since Sky One relaunched as Sky Max. However the channel has only launched two scripted comedies in that time: Funny Woman being the other.

Sampson – who created and writes the show – says series two has ‘filthy secrets, dirty lies… someone’s gonna have to come clean’.

In series one, the Plebs and Brassic star plays carpet salesman Glen, whose suburban  life is upended when his estranged brother Lee (Dyer) turned up unexpectedly. The show also Harriet Webb as Ryan’s shoplifting wife and Adrian Scarborough as his boss.

It ended with Glen finally coming face-to-face with the 'bad men' his brother was hiding from, and discovering not all was as it seemed.

Mr Bigstuff received three star reviews from the Guardian, The i and the Daily Telegraph when it launched in July, but just two stars from the London Evening Standard.

Series 2 will air on Sky Max next year.
