Are these the best posters at the Edinburgh Fringe?

Award-winners announced

Abi Clarke and the double bill of Iain Pringle and Paddy Linton have the best comedy posters at the Edinburgh Fringe, it has been decided.

Clarke won the audience award at the Comedy Poster Awards last night for the promotional image for her show (Role) Model, showing her being burned at the stake. It was designed by Jonny Woolley, photographed by Dylan Woodley and with make-up by Olivia Davey.

The rest of the shortlist was: Adam Greene: Healthy Beast, Bad Clowns: Hostage, Chonk, and Christian Dart: Bigger Than The Christmas Turkey.

The panel prize went to James Lawrence’s design for  Scottish comics Pringle and Linton’s double bill Deep Fried In Patter!

The other shortlisted entrants were Abi Clarke: (Role) Model, Amy Gledhill: Make Me Look Fit nOn The Poster, Chonk, and Hot Ghoul Summer.

Each winner will receive at least £600 with of free poster placements at next year’s Fringe from city council’s advertising partner, Out of Hand. And they share £500 cash courtesy of Gobby Girl Productions, run by the poster award’s producer Gina Lyons.

She said: ‘I’m thrilled with the two winners this year. Posters have to do a lot of heavy lifting in a city so full of them, and these two stood out to the audience and the judges because they are, in a word, brilliant.’
