Funtime Frankie's back

The best of the week's live comedy

The best of the week's live comedy, picked from the thousands of events Chortle currently has listed. Obviously most of the attention is at the Edinburgh fringe, but there are other options! Use our search panel to check our full listings by date and region.

Monday August 5

LONDON: Frank Skinner starts another three-week run of his stand-up show Thirty Years Of Dirt, following a previous run at the same venue in February and at the Lyric Theatre last year. Read our review of the show here.

Thursday August 8

HEVER CASTLE: Over the summer the Kent castle opens an outdoor theatre, but with the audience under cover (which is transparent so you still get the atmosphere) . Tonight it hosts a mixed-bill stand-up show with Jonny Awsum, Morgan Rees, Nathan Caton and (despite his recent behaviour online) Dane Baptiste

Friday August 9

COVENTRY: Peeping Tom's Comedy Club is hosting a gig at the Empire in collaboration with local comedian Douglas Carter, featuring an appealing bull of Josh Pugh, Jo Enright and Eddy Brimson.

Thanks for reading. If you find Chortle’s coverage of the comedy scene useful or interesting, please consider supporting us with a monthly or one-off ko-fi donation.
Any money you contribute will directly fund more reviews, interviews and features – the sort of in-depth coverage that is increasingly difficult to fund from ever-squeezed advertising income, but which we think the UK’s vibrant comedy scene deserves.
