Could Green Wing be making a TV comeback?

Creator Victoria Pile suggests it could...

Green Wing could be making a return to TV, creator Victoria Pile has hinted.

The show, about the bizarre goings-on at East Hampton Hospital, originally ran for two series  on Channel 4 in 2004 and 2006 and starred the likes of Tamsin Greig, Julian Rhind-Tutt, Olivia Colman, Steve Mangan and Mark Heap.

Speaking to the Radio Times, Pile said: ‘We are debating [a revival]. I’m about to email everybody and see how they feel about it. So, yeah, we’re contemplating what we could do. There are potential things we could pick up.’

The team reunited for a podcast series earlier this year, which contrived to bring the characters back together again, whatever their apparent fates in the TV series.

Green Wing: Resuscitated was well-received by fans, garnering a 4.9 out of 5 average rating on Audible (and read Chortle’s four-star review here).

Pile and the writing team behind Green Wing recently reunited to create the ITV comedy Piglets, set in a police training centre.

The show has received mixed reviews from critics, with write-up ranging from two to four stars, but Pile said it would be ‘fantastic’ to get a second series.

‘It was conceived as something that could roll on, because a new training group can come in,’ she said. ‘You’ve built the foundations, and now you hopefully get the chance to go further.

‘I would be very sad not to have another stab, to be honest. I’m working with my favourite people, these writers. It feels like being at home. I loved it. I just wish we could have a bit more time and do it again.’
