Brass Eye film goes on the road again

Screening dates for Michael Cumming's Oxide Ghosts

Brass Eye director Michael Cumming is taking his film about the making of Chris Morris’s groundbreaking comedy back on the road.

His documentary, Oxide Ghosts, includes behind-the-scenes footage from his personal archive and is said to offer 'a unique glimpse into Morris’s extraordinary working practices'.

The 60-minute film was previously screened at tours in 2017 and 2022 and goes on the road again from next month. At each event, Cummings will answer audience questions, with guest hosts including Stewart Lee, Rich Fulcher, Andy Dawson and Ronni Ancona.

Cumming directed the pilot and all six regular episodes of Brass Eye, which aired on Channel 4 in 1997, but not the controversial Paedogeddon! special in 2001. His other credits include The Mark Thomas Product, Matt Lucas and David Walliams in Rock Profile, Toast Of London and Lee’s  music film, King Rocker.

Brass Eye also starred Doon Mackichan, Gina McKee, Mark Heap, Amelia Bullmore, Simon Pegg, Julia Davis, Claire Skinner, John Guerrasio, Hugh Dennis and Kevin Eldon. while the writing team also included David Quantick, Peter Baynham, Jane Bussmann, Arthur Mathews, Graham Linehan and Charlie Brooker
