John Bishop moves his show... so he can watch the football

Euros decision divides fans

John Bishop has divided fans after rescheduling a show so he can watch England in the Euro 2024 final.

The comic was due to perform his Back At It tour show at Wolverhampton University on Sunday at 7pm.

However he has now brought it earlier in the day, telling his fans on social media:  ‘I'm not doing the show at 8pm, the show is going to be moved to the afternoon.

‘You're all going to get an email telling you the time. I know it won't suit everybody so anyone who can't make it we'll definitely give you a refund.'

‘But we are definitely going to move the time to Sunday afternoon cause theres no chance I'm going to be doing it at 8pm because I'm going to be busy watching these boys.’

The show will now start at 2pm, it was subsequently announced.

While many fans would be happy to change their days so they could watch both Bishop and England take on Spain, others were unimpressed.

One said: ‘I wish I had a job where I could change the time I start, at the cost of disrupting a few thousand people, to watch a football match. Fair play.’

A second said: ‘Good windup, because you wouldn’t be so inconsiderate to move your show to watch a game of football and for all the people that’s planed to come and see you for months just to screw them over, come on JB."

But others gave him their support. ‘You did the right thing. Nobody wants to be watching you when England is in the final,’ said one.

And fellow comic Stephen Grant called it an ‘absolute rescheduling masterclass '
