Sky's Brassic gets a 7th series

...before season 6 even hits screens

Sky has ordered a seventh series of Brassic – before the sixth has even aired.

Work will start on the new season this autumn, with the sixth run due to air on Sky Max  at some point later this year.

Danny Brocklehurst, who created Brassic with its star Joe Gilgun, said: 'Season seven! How did this happen?!? Brassic is a delight to make and it's a privilege to create more chaos for our loyal and loving audience.’

The green light means the show will match the record for the broadcaster's longest running narrative comedy, currently held by supermarket sitcom Trollied.

Brassic follows Gilgun's character Vinnie O'Neill and his band of smalltime crooks in the fictional town of Hawley.

Other key cast members include Michelle Keegan, Damien Molony, Tom Hanson, Aaron Heffernan, Ryan Sampson, Parth Thakerar and Steve Evets.

Alex Moody, head of comedy Commissioning, Sky Studios said: "We couldn’t be happier that Vinnie and the gang will return for another raucous ride, bringing heart, laughs and Farmer Jim’s unrivalled swear-count back to Sky for a seventh series.’

The show is made by Calamity Films, whose founder David Livingstone said: ‘It’s a great treat to be commissioned for a 50th hour of the madness that is Brassic. All of us cannot wait.’
