...the same age the real Monarch reached

Jeannette Charles, who appeared as the Queen in numerous comedy shows, has died at the age of 96 – the same age the late Monarch reached.

The lookalike died at her care home in Essex on Sunday, it that been reported today.

She rose to fame after her uncanny resemblance to the Queen was spotted in 1971 and one of her first appearances was in the Eric Idle and Neil Innes sketch show Rutland Weekend Television in 1974.

She went on to appear in Saturday Night Live, Not The Nine O Clock News,  National Lampoon’s European Vacation,  Austin Powers in Goldmember and The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad!

Her daughter Carol Christophi said last night: ‘‘Mum was a real character and a force of nature. She had an amazing life. She was always respectful of the Queen and adored the Royal Family. We will miss her dearly.’
