C4 to air a Taskmasker spin-off

Compilation show after series 17 ends

Channel 4 is to air a series of Taskmaster specials in which Greg Davies and Alex Horne go behind the scenes on the show.

The programmes – which start on June 6 after the 17th series ends – promise a look at the ‘best, worst and somewhat middling tasks’ behind the show.

In the first episode, the  hosts will discuss ‘whether there is any point to the seemingly pointless tasks on Taskmaster’.

A compilation show might be seen as low-cost programming for cash-strapped Channel 4 – which is slashing its programming budget and cancelling a raft of shows including Steph’s Packed Lunch, SAS: Who Dares Wins and The Big Narstie Show.

The news comes the day after it was announced that the Taskmaster VR game will launch on June 13.

And the Junior Taskmaster spin-off for 9- to 11-year-old contestants – featuring Rose Matafeo as the Taskmaster and Mike Wozniak as her assistant - is set to air on TV later this year.
