20 unreleased Frank Sidebottom tracks coming out on CD

Comprehensive collection of comic's work

Twenty previously unreleased Frank Sidebottom tracks are to come out on a major new CD release.

The Little Box Of Bobbins is billed as the ‘most detailed and definitive look at the career of the cult hero’ and will feature more than 100 songs.

It is a three-disc compilation. The first two are the collections Frank Sidebottom's ABC & D... The Best Of.. and E, F, G & H. The Best Of... Volume Two originally released in 1999 and and 2009 respectively.

Disc three comprises 36 tracks that have never been on CD before. Twenty have never been released at all and 16 tracks were on Frank's EPs originally put out in the mid-1980s.

The anthology will be released by Cherry Red Records on July 19, priced £24.99 and a full track listing is available on its website.

The release includes an introduction by former bandmate Mark Radcliffe and an exclusive interview with  Stirling Sievey, the son of  Sidebottom creator Chris Sievey.

Sievey died in 2010 in Wythenshawe, Manchester, at the age of 54.  A publicly-funded statue of Frank was unveiled in 2013 in Timperley village, where his alter-ego lived.

Any money you contribute will directly fund more reviews, interviews and features – the sort of in-depth coverage that is increasingly difficult to fund from ever-squeezed advertising income, but which we think the UK’s vibrant comedy scene deserves.
