Richard Gadd's show dominates Netflix viewing

Baby Reindeer continues to dominate Netflix viewing, attracting an astounding 22million viewers worldwide last week.

Richard Gadd’s autobiographical story about stalking topped the charts for the second week running, in the seven days up to April 28.

Its audience is more than seven times that of the the second most popular English TV series,  Dead Boy Detectives, which drew 3.1million viewers.

And it also outperformed the top-rated film, Rebel Moon — Part Two: The Scargiver, which had 18.8 million views.

The show’s popularity has prompted armchair detectives to try to identify the real-life people the show is based on – often incorrectly.

However, one woman has indented herself as the real-life ‘Martha’, his stalker, and threatened to sue Gadd over the way she is portrayed.

The lawyer, who Chortle is not naming,  told the Daily Mail: ‘I’m the victim. He's written a bloody show about me’ and accused the comedian of ‘bullying an older woman on television for fame and fortune’ .

Baby Reindeer, which debuted on Netflix on April 11, is based on the one-man stage show Gadd created about his experiences in 2019.
