Celeste Barber joins Colin From Accounts
Celeste Barber – the Australian comedian who was propelled to fame by parodying celebrity Instagram posts – has joined the cast of Colin From Accounts.
The comic, who has almost 10million followers on the platform, will play a character called Kate in the second series of the acclaimed romcom.
A picture has been released with her holding a glass of wine, although no other details of her character have been revealed.
Created and written by its stars Patrick Brammall and Harriet Dyer, the second series of Colin From Account launches in Australia on May 30, with episodes dropping on the Binge streaming service weekly.
The BBC has brought the rights to air series two in the UK, but no broadcast date has yet been announced.
Also joining the cast for the new episodes are Virginia Gay, Justin Rosniak, Lynne Porteous and John Howard.
Gay said: ‘It's very rare that you get to walk onto the set of your favourite show and become a part of it. I love this show with all my heart, and the reason that it's so brilliant is because of the Patty-and-Harrietness of it. They are a joy to be around, and that joy is all over the screen.’
Rosniak added: ‘Colin From Accounts is the best show in Australia, hands down. If you're not laughing your head off, you're bawling your eyes out. It is truly an honour to be a part of this magical experience.’
In season two, Ash and Gordon are now living together and trying to get their beloved special-needs dog, Colin, back from his new owners. It’s the first in a series of hurdles for the new couple, as they find out more about each other, for better and worse.
The BBC’s head of programme acquisition, Sue Deeks previously said: ‘BBC viewers have been completely charmed by this award-winning romantic comedy, and have taken Ashley, Gordon and unlikely cupid Colin to their hearts. We are so delighted that there is going to be another series of the totally engaging Colin From Accounts for us all to enjoy.’
The new faces will join returning cast members Emma Harvie, Genevieve Hegney, Michael Logo, Helen Thomson, Darren Gilshenan, Annie Maynard and Tai Hara.
