Knowing Me, Steve Coogan, Knowning You, The Joker, Aha!
Steve Coogan has a role in the second Joker film, Folie à Deux, as revealed in a trailer released today.
Fans were surprised to see the Alan Partridge star playing a different sort of interviewer as he interrogated Joaquin Phoenix’s title character.
‘Tell us, what’s changed, Arthur?’ he says in an American accent and, using the Gotham villain’s real name,
‘I’ll tell you what’s changed, I’m not alone any more.’
The film shows the Joker forging a relationship with Arkham Asylum psychologist Harleen Quinzel (Lady Gaga), who transforms into Harley Quinn.
The nature of Coogan’s character and the context in which he appears is not explained in the two-and-a-half minute trailer for the film, which will be released in October.
One X user commented: ‘Steve Coogan being in the Joker 2 trailer for 2 seconds is the strongest case for the film I’ve seen. Imagine what would happen if Alan Partridge met The Joker….’
And a redditor said: ‘I saw Steve Coogan and now I want a full film of Alan Partridge trying to get an interview with the Joker, or better yet just making a documentary on Gotham City.’
