Joe Lycett's Turdcast releases at last

Comic really did record an episode of the 'fake' show, with Gary Lineker

Turdcast – the podcast that Joe Lycett set up for his upcoming documentary about the sewage industry – has been released today.

Although part of a publicity stunt for the comedian’s Channel 4 show, Lycett really did chat to Gary Lineker for its one and only episode, which is now available on all podcast platforms.

Lycett said: ‘This is a fake podcast that is now a real podcast but only for one episode so it is a real fake podcast. Does that make sense?’

In the Turdcast, the Match Of The Day presenter talks to Lycett about the now-legendary moment he ‘relieved’ himself on the pitch in England’s opening game of the 1990 World Cup in front of hundreds of millions of people – as well as discussing how Gazza farted during team baths.

Originally, the show was advertised as launching in November, but was ‘cancelled’ when a publicity stunt apparently went wrong, with a giant inflatable toilet dubbed the Turdis accidentally leaking sewage into Liverpool Docks.

The waste was actually only marine mud, and revealed to be a prank to draw public attention to how UK water companies spill sewage into the nation’s waterways and seas.

In previous shows, Lycett has taken on the oil industry and David Beckham’s hypocrisy for promoting the World Cup despite host nation Qatar’s record on LGBTQ rights.

Joe Lycett vs Sewage is on Channel 4 at 9pm tomorrow.
