Stand-up takes a trip though the history of gadgets

Aurie Styla is recording a new Radio 4 series about tech.

The comic loves gadgets, saying his life has been mapped out by those he owns.

Producers say the new show, Tech Talk, ‘retraces that journey with him in this hybrid of standup and cultural history. It dips into the delicious nostalgia of the technology we've left behind, takes a look at the astounding tech-wizardry around us today, and asks what might come next.’

The description for the show adds: ‘The progress of technology, in our times, has been both exciting and bewildering.

‘Many of us can remember playing video games from a cassette (which normally failed to load altogether) and calling a phone number to find out the time.

‘Now we carry billions of pieces of information in our pockets and can ask a robot to write us a poem. It is a strange landscape, but fast-talking talent Aurie Styla is the man to navigate it.’

The show is being recorded at the Backyard Comedy Club in East London on February 12, and free audience tickets are available here

Styla’s TV credits include Richard Osman's House Of Games, The Stand-Up Sketch Show and Don’t Hate The Playaz.

And earlier this week he was announced as one of the cast members of a Radio 4 sketch show pilot entitled You’re Part of The Problem – part of a raft of comedy programming the channel unveiled.

Meanwhile, his stand-up show The Aurator begins a 28-date UK tour at the Brighton Komeda on February 1.
