Comic stars as an animated cat in 10 Lives

An animated film starring  Mo Gilligan is to get its US premiere at the Sundance Film Festival next month.

In 10 Lives, the comic plays Beckett, a pampered cat who takes life for granted until he loses his ninth life – turning from  self-absorbed pet to a self-sacrificing hero.

It is the first starring role for Gilligan, who appears alongside  Bill Nighy, Simone Ashley, Zayn Malik, Sophie Okonedo, Dylan Lllewellyn and Jeremy Swift.

Director Christopher Jenkins started his career in animation on Who Framed Roger Rabbit and more recently directed Duck Duck Goose.

10 Lives, will be screened as a family matinee during the  prestigious film festival, which runs in Utah from January 18 to 28.

Gilligan also recently announced his latest stand-up tour, In The Moment which runs from September next year.
